Steve
Martin - Head Coach Old Dominion University
Coach Steve Martin, former Great Bridge High School (GBHS) wrestling
coach, was named Head Wrestling Coach at Old Dominion University
in June 2004. The 12X High School State Championship Coach will
now implement our Granby Style at the Division I level. While at
GBHS Martin's teams won 12 VA State Team Titles with a record of
305-15-1. He has produced 40 State Champions, 97 State Place Winners,
37 High School All-Americans, 7 High School National Champions,
several Conference Champions and NCAA Qualifiers and a NCAA Champion.
His GBHS teams were consistently ranked in the TOP 20 Nationaly.
Carl Perry, the 2000 NCAA Champion at 141 lbs. for the University
of Illinois, competed for Coach Martin at GBHS. Coach Martin coached
the 2001 WUSA Dream Team and was a NWCA National Finalist for National
High School Coach of the Year in 1995 and 2000.
Steve Martin was a 3-time State Champion and 3X All-American in
High School, Midlands Champion and NCAA All-American in college
while competing for the LEGENDARY DAN GABLE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF
IOWA. Steve, mentored by his father legendary Billy Martin and trained
by the legendary Dan Gable as a HAWKEYE at Iowa, has a matchless
background of knowledge and experience.

Mike Dixon - Head Assistant Coach Old Dominion University
Mike Dixon has been Steve Martin’s right hand man at Old Dominion University for the last 4 years. As the Head Assistant coach he has coached Old Dominion University to 4 Virginia Intercollegiate State Championships, advanced 7 Wrestlers to the NCAA Championships, had 2 AWN all rookie team members, and produced ODU’s first ever Academic All-American. Dixon has helped Old Dominion reach new highs each year. Mike has helped ODU move into the top 20 in the USA Today/Coaches’ Poll for the first time in school history. The Monarchs have had 6 wrestlers ranked in the top 20 during the 07-08 year. Mike wrestled at Indiana University and was a national qualifier as well as a University National Champion. He placed 4th at the Pan American Championships in the Dominican Republic in 2001. Mike has extensive technical experience in the Granby Series and is the current director for team camps at the Granby School of Wrestling.
